My Microsoft apps (word, excel, etc) won't open even after I agree to the license agreement. It's a new HP laptop. I have installed the programs, did all my updates, and checked my subscriptions were up to date.

Many new PCs include a trial version of Microsoft 365. Usually, you have to uninstall the trial and then install and activate the version for which you have a license.

Hello NADINE GRIFFIN, welcome to the Microsoft Community.

It seems you are trying to use OneDrive on your new laptop, but it’s not functioning well right now.

To help you better resolve this issue, I would like to understand:

    • Is this your first time using Office on this computer?
    • Are there any error messages when you try to open it? Could you share a screenshot with me?
    • What are your current versions of Windows and Office?

You can try uninstalling and reinstalling the Office application from your Microsoft account's Services & Subscriptions page. If your Office product is a version like Office 2021, please consider that it may indeed have limitations that allow it to be used on only one device.

Additionally, you can create a new local account to check if this issue occurs in a specific user environment:

    1. Press Windows + S, search for cmd, and run the command prompt as an administrator.
    2. Enter and execute:
       net user User /add

    3. Then execute:
       net localgroup administrators User /add

After completing this, click on your current user avatar in the Start menu and switch to the newly created User account.

In the new account environment, check if the issue persists.

Looking forward to your reply. Best RegardsEliac | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
