Question:

I use Microsoft Loop and Microsoft Lists to manage tasks and projects. Is there a way to link a task created in Microsoft Loop to an existing Microsoft List?

Problem:

I can create tasks in both Microsoft Loop and Microsoft Lists, but I haven't figured out how to connect or link a task in Loop to a specific item in a Microsoft List. This would help in keeping our task management centralized and synchronized across tools.

    Hi Yaseen Saleem,

Thank you for your question regarding task management between Microsoft Loop and Microsoft Lists.

Microsoft Loop and Microsoft Lists operate as separate tools within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, each serving different purposes. Unfortunately, there isn’t a direct built-in feature to link or sync tasks created in Microsoft Loop with items in a Microsoft List. Currently, Microsoft loop could be synced with Microsoft Planner and To Do list only. Kindly refer to the article for your reference.

However, here are a few potential workarounds that might help you achieve a more integrated task management experience:

    1) Manual Linking via Hyperlinks:

    • You can manually add a hyperlink in your Loop task that points to a specific item in your Microsoft List. This allows you to reference and access the List item directly from your Loop task.
    • In Microsoft Loop, highlight the text you want to link, and then use the “Insert Link” option to paste the URL of the specific List item.

    2) Use Power Automate:

    • If you’re comfortable with automation tools, you can use Microsoft Power Automate to create a flow that triggers when a task is created or updated in Microsoft Loop (using its connected apps) and links or adds a corresponding item in a Microsoft List. This requires some setup but can help in keeping tasks synchronized across tools.

    3) Integrate with Microsoft To Do or Planner:

    • You might consider using Microsoft To Do or Planner, which offer better integration with Microsoft Loop. Tasks from these tools can be more easily linked or synchronized with loop tasks.

    4) Stay Updated on Feature Releases:

    • Microsoft is continuously updating its 365 apps, and new integrations or features may be introduced in the future. I recommend keeping an eye on the Microsoft 365 roadmap for any updates related to Loop and Lists integration.

While these workarounds may require some manual effort or additional setup, they can help in bridging the gap between Microsoft Loop and Lists for more streamlined task management.

I hope this helps! If you have any further questions or need assistance with setting up any of these suggestions, feel free to reach out.

    Best regards,

    Sophia
