How to Duplicate an Existing SharePoint List

Hi,

I’m trying to create a new list in SharePoint by using an existing list from last year as a template. I want to duplicate that list, so I can make necessary edits for the this year while keeping most of the structure and content intact.

Is there a way to easily duplicate a SharePoint list and then make edits where needed? Any guidance or best practices for this would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Madhumita

    Hi Madhumita Chaudhary (Ingka Centers),

Greetings. Thank you for posting the thread in our community.

Based on your description, it seems you want to duplicate an existing list in the SharePoint.

If you are using SharePoint online, generally, you can select + NEW> List > select From existing list, thenyou canselect the existing list as a template to create a new list on your site:

Here is also the official support article as reference for you: Create a new list based on the columns in another list - Microsoft Support. You can also follow the steps in the article to create duplicate lists:

If you have further question about it, Please be free to contact and send feedback to me, I’m glad to help.

Hope you having a nice day.
