Hello everyone.

I recently acquired a used laptop with Windows 11 installed in it.These days I feel I need to reset it. When I selected reset this device from settings and restarted it, Windows had installed office and an office activation guide appeared on the desktop. After I followed the guide and logged into my account I realized I could not activate office.

Why is this? Is there any way to fix this?

Hello, Justin_685-y.

Welcome to Microsoft community.

I understand that you seem to be experiencing an issue that won't activate after buying a second-hand computer reset. Please don't worry, I will do everything I can to help you.

>You mentioned that you didn't activate Office after logging into your account:

The way your account is activated depends on whether your license is linked to your account or device. Since you have logged in to your account and found that it has not been successfully activated, it is recommended that you check the subscription status of the product under your account:

▲Check the status of your subscription under your account:

>It is recommended that you sign in to access the Microsoft account

>In the Service & Subscription option:

>check if the subscription status is normal/expired/displayed;

You can share the screenshot displayed with me  so that I can help you more specifically

If you have a product tied to your account, the product will be automatically activated after logging in to your Microsoft account.

>About how you can reactivate Office:

You need follow the steps I provide below to contact support( I have taken screenshots of the key steps to make sure you are doing it correctly) You can choose to either chat with support one-on-one online or wait for a support specialist to call you back to resolve your reactivation-related issues. They have the right to remotely connect to your computer with your permission and help you directly on your computer to help you with any problems related to reactivating Office.

One thing that needs to be explained to you is that I, as an agent of the forum, do not have the authority to help you contact and connect your computer remotely and handle activation directly, so as not to expose your private information to the forum, which is a platform for public sharing and communication. This information would be left with Chat Support in a separate window:

    **Contact Microsoft Support:**
  1. Visit this website:   Contact - Microsoft Support
  2. Type in your problems in the search box there.( For instance, contact support.)
  3. Now click Get help, and Select Contact Support below. Image
  4. Go to the Products and services tab, and choose either Microsoft 365 and Office category
  5. On the Category tab, choose  Manage My Subscription .
  6. Go to Confirm.
