I am not connected to a school or business account but when I try to use autosave on my Mac I get a message saying: Upload failed. Something went wrong and this file cannot be uploaded to the cloud.

    Hello, Rose Saldivar

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I realize that you are using a personal account and have encountered a problem with enabling Autosave feature for your files on Mac. I understand how the inconvenience this may have caused.

Recently, some users have been posting in different language sections that they are experiencing a similar situation, so your question may be a hot issue.

    For example:

Post in English: onedrive office 365 cannot autosave for personal account - Microsoft Community

Post in Chinese: excel word for Mac OS 没办法自动保存文件 - Microsoft Community

You can try creating a new folder in OneDrive and saving your files in this new folder. It may be a problem with specific location in OneDrive.

Note: The above method do not always work.

If it doesn't work, I suggest that you take the following method as a temporary workaround:

After finishing editing your file, manually upload the file to OneDrive online in your browser to save your changes.

At the same time, I sincerely recommend that you report this issue directly to OneDrive support to let them know about this embarrassing problem.

    To contact:

Sign in to OneDrive Online, and then click this link: Email OneDrive support

Or you can click the feedback button in the top right corner and select "Report a problem."

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

    Best wishes,

Lucia Wu - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
