SharePoint Access for External User

Hello,

A client of mine shared their internal SharePoint site with me about a year ago and I set up two step authentication in the MS Authenticator App. I bought a new phone and did not back up my accounts on MS Authenticator so now I can't access the site. In order to set up the account again in MS Authenticator I need a new link that has the QR code. It appears that the original email I receive when the site was first shared with me no longer exists which is needed to access that QR code. I can't find another situation like this online so I am wondering what is the best way for them to reshare their site with me? I'm concerned that if they reshare just through site access it will not recognize me as a new user and I will not receive the email with the QR code. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

    Dear Austin,

    Good day!!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and please don’t worry, let’s work together on your concern and move towards a resolution path.

I understand your concern and to my knowledge, I would like to convey that your account should have been added as guest user account and the QR code for setting up the multi-factor authentication will be prompted only when you are setting up initially.

Since you want to setup authentication on the new mobile device, I would like to request you to connect with the person who shared the content in the site with you and ask him/her to connect with the IT admin of your organization to reset the multi-factor authentication for your guest account so that you can setup the multi-factor authentication on a new mobile device.

If there is any misunderstanding or confusion from our end, we apologize and request you to share the more detailed information with some screenshots which will help us to better understand and guide you further.

Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a great day!!

    Best Regards,

    Sophia
