How can I access the developer tab on Word browser?

All the existing posts I've seen on how to do this seem to reference a File > Options menu, which doesn't exist on mine. I'm on browser so I'm not sure if that's why there's no File > Options? Is there another way to access the developer tab (I'd like to make some clickable checkboxes)? Thanks!

You need to be using Word running under Windows to have access to all of its facilities. There are many featuers that are not available in the On-Line Version.

    Dear AnsaS,

Good day! Thank you for posting in our community. Your question is "How can I access the developer tab on Word browser?".

Unfortunately, there is no developer tab in Word Online. The Online version works through common browser software and does not have many of the features available in the Desktop versions. Some features like developer feature "Macro" are not available in Online version. You will need to use desktop version to add Developer tab.

Here are articles showing how to add it from Desktop app.

    Hi AnsaS,

While there is no Developer tab on the Ribbon of on-line Office applications, they can be programmed using JavaScript.

    Javaqscript Add-ins

There is general support for building Javascript add-ins here:

    https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/dev-program

The motherload of support for Javascript developers is GitHub

    https://github.com/OfficeDev/

    1. Add-in documentation: https://dev.office.com/docs/add-ins/overview/office-add-ins
    2. Mac preview of add-in commands: https://aka.ms/cmac

    Look for content labeled office-js
