Protected sheet doesn't allow sorting

Question

I have a requirement to sort data for protected sheet. I have checked the box to allow Sort, Use AutoFilter, Select locked cells and select unlocked cells when I protect the sheet. With it protected I'm unable to sort. What am I missing?

Also, I tried allow edit ranges before protecting the sheet but still it's not allowing the sort.

Hello Kanchan_495,  Welcome to the Microsoft community.We did the same test on Microsoft 365 and the same thing happened. If we select Sort, Use AutoFilter, Select locked cells and select unlocked cells when protecting a worksheet, and then select Sort, we get a message that the worksheet is protected and cannot be sorted.But if we uncheck the box we can not even click the sort button.This seems to be an Excel feature setting issue, and I suggest you send feedback to Microsoft by following the steps in the link below.How do I give feedback on Microsoft 365? - Microsoft SupportSincerelyCarlos - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialisto
