    Hi, Eije Iveroth

According to your description, you may have mistakenly turned on the backup or file-on-demand function of OneDrive, which will cause your files to be uploaded to OneDrive, and then the files left locally will be deleted.

Then you want to download your document files back to the local computer, right?

According to the information you mentioned at the beginning, the document got stuck and OneDrive crashed after downloading. So did the situation improve after trying my solution (resetting OneDrive)?

Of course, if the situation of your OneDrive client still does not improve, you can also log in to your OneDrive web client to download the files you want back to the local computer.

    Best wishes

    Hi, Eije Iveroth

Thank you for using Microsoft products and posting them to the community.

Did you back up your local files to OneDrive?

Then you mentioned that you "tried to download the document back to my computer", how did you do it?

Then you mentioned that OneDrive crashed. Does it mean that it was unresponsive or that it closed automatically after a while?

Then please check whether your root directory location is correct, such as the document:

Right click - Properties - Location, the normal location should be: C:\Users\username\Documents

    Also check the following:

If the displayed location is not this, click Restore Defaults below to restore the location.

    Then try resetting OneDrive:

    Reset OneDrive - Microsoft Support

Then close OneDrive, restart your computer, and then try to download the files in OneDrive to your local computer. If you want to download all files, you should open OneDrive Settings-Sync and Backup-pull down, open Advanced Options-Files on Demand-and then download all files.

If you want to download a single file, open the OneDrive file location, right-click the file and select Download.

I hope the above information can help you. Feel free to send a message if you need further help.

    Best wishes
