A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data.
Hi, AndyAlt
Thank you for using Microsoft products and posting them in the community.
When creating a populated map in Excel, if you display by county but the whole world appears, you can try the following to solve the problem:
- Check the data format: Make sure the county and state names are combined. For example, use the “County, State” format. This will help Excel recognize geographic locations more accurately.
- Use geographic data types: Make sure your county data is recognized as a geographic data type. Select the county name column and convert it to a geographic data type.
- Update Excel: Make sure you are using the latest version of Excel, as newer versions may contain fixes or improvements to geographic recognition.
- Manually filter the data:
If the above methods do not work, you can manually filter the data to keep only the county data for that state and then recreate the map.
I hope the above information can help you. Feel free to send a message if you need further help.
Best wishes
