Hi,

I bought 2 copies of office from Microsoft.

Installed 1 license on my laptop and now am unable to use the other license key on my PC.

Can anyone help with why and how to install?

Cheers Adam

    Dear Camral Solutions,

We received your reply and we saw that you said you purchased two Office 2024 products, but when you tried to view the product information under "Services and Subscriptions", it only showed that it had been added to another account and the activation date.

Normally, if you redeem two identical products under the same account, two Office 2024 product information and separate redemption times will also be displayed.

We are worried that you do have another license information that has not been redeemed under the account. Have you tried to redeem your key to your Microsoft account again?

At the same time, you can also try to confirm whether the accounts you redeemed your keys are consistent?

In order to help you confirm the status and redemption information of the product key you received, we need to confirm with you:

Have you tried our suggestion to contact chat support to help you query the redemption information of the key? If you accidentally redeemed it under another account, chat support can help you query and try to recall and use the corresponding account to activate your product.

You can also use the following command to help detect whether there is invalid license information in the system: press Windows + S, search for cmd in it, and run the command prompt as an administrator.

Enter and execute the following command:

    cd C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16

If it doesn't work, enter instead:

    cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16

You will then navigate to this folder, enter and execute:

    cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus

This will list all Office license information on the device. In the LICENSE NAME line, you should see some invalid license information, and the last five digits of the key will also be displayed. Delete all license information.

    Then enter and execute:

cscript ospp.vbs /unpkey: the last five digits of the key

    For example:

    cscript ospp.vbs /unpkey:ABCDE

If there are many displayed, multiple complete clearing operations are required.

    Best Regards,

    Dear Camral Solutions,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We have received the information you shared with us. We see that you indicated that you purchased Office 2024 Home and Business and received two keys information in the invoice.

Usually, you can only receive one license key to help you redeem and activate Office after paying a one-time subscription product, but you indicated that you received two key information, so we need to confirm with you:

    • Did you subscribe to the product information of Office 2024 twice?
    • You said that the license has been used when you used it. Are you using the Office license information on different computers?
    • Did you enter the key directly in the program to activate the product? Have you redeemed the key in your account?

To help confirm whether your key redemption and usage status is correct, you can try to assist us in the confirmation:

You can use your key and redeem your Office product to your Microsoft account using the detailed information in the following link:

Where to enter your Office product key - Microsoft Support

    Confirm product quantity and version

You can log in to the Microsoft dashboard: Microsoft account | Sign In or Create Your Account Today – Microsoft Click "Services and Subscriptions" to see if there is product information under the account, and you can confirm whether two Office 2024 are displayed product information?

    Activate Office products:

If you use different license information to activate on the same device, you may be prompted to select a license or detect an error. You can also try to log in your key information on other devices to confirm whether the key can be activated and detected successfully.

At the same time, since your error message shows "License has been applied", we are also worried that the status of the license information key you subscribed to is incorrect, which makes you unable to redeem or activate another Office product.

Then we also recommend that you contact chat support to help you check whether the status of the subscribed product key is correct and whether it can help you redeem successfully.

    <--Contact Microsoft Support-->

1.Visit this website: Contact - Microsoft Support

2.Type in your problems in the search box there.

3.Now click Get help, and Select Contact Support below.

4.Go to the Products and services tab, and choose either Microsoft 365 and Office category or Other Products

5.On the Category tab, choose Manage My Subscription or other alternatives.

    6.Go to Confirm.

7.You can now choose the option of Chat with a support agent on your web browser.

Please Note: The Chat support team only works at certain times, so if the last window says you are not available, try to open it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. That way, they can call you and help you.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Naren,

    Office2024 home and business.

Email from Microsoft included 2 license keys in the description line of the invoice.

    Installed on my laptop fine.

When I logged into my PC and try to download I can see it is trying to use the same license key that is on the laptop.

Message is - this license has already been applied

There is no way to specify the other key as the correct one for the PC.

    Cheers

    Adam

    Dear Camral,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering an issue because each Office license key is unique and can only be used on one PC. We need more information to determine the type of Office product you have and guide you accordingly.

    1. Can you confirm if your Office product is a subscription (like Microsoft 365 Business Premium or Microsoft 365 Personal) or a one-time purchase (like Office Professional 2021 or Office 2021 Home & Business)?
    2. Are there any specific error messages displayed when attempting to use the second license key? If so, please provide the exact wording. (Screenshot)
    3. Did you download Office from the official Microsoft website or was it pre-installed on your device?

Look forward to your reply. We'll be here to help.

Have a nice day and stay safe 😊

    Sincerely

    Naren | Microsoft Community Moderator
