Suppress Read-Write message?

Hello,

Is there a way to suppress or disable the message stating the following?

File Now Available

<filename> is now available for editing

Choose Read-Write to open.

Read-Write / Cancel

I tried adding Application.DisplayAlerts = False but that did not help.

This message pops up while an extensive procedure is running.  I do not want to see this.  If I could get it to default to “Cancel” all would work fine.

I am running Excel 2007.

Thanks for viewing,

Steve K.

So how would you address this in newer versions. I have access to Office 2010 and 2016 (I'm an old guy and change does not fit me well).

Any suggestions on the newer versions would be greatly appreciated. . .

    Hi Steve,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

We take your question very seriously. A word of caution though, Excel 2007 is no longer supported and we do not have this version of Excel on our tests for testing and reproducing issues, so our familiarity with this version as support staff is limited.

That said, we will keep this thread open so that other community members can offer you advice and assistance. There are many experienced users in the community who may know more about Excel 2007 and are willing to share their solutions.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

May you have a great day!

    Best regards,

Ian - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
