Hi,

I would like to use exploit site usage data from my sharepoint site to do so I need to distinguish site owners and members which are contributing to the development of the site from other visitors to have more accurate and meaningful data for my analysis.

Is it possible to exclude this populations or to extract more detailed data allowing me to exclude myself in a second time the noise ?

Thanks in advance

Best regards

    Hi Naila B,

Good day! I hope you are doing well.

I am really sorry to hear about your situation. I thought that Power BI might be able to help since you can extract more data using the audit log in Microsoft 365 Purview (Search the audit log | Microsoft Learn) or the unified audit log PowerShell, which provides more details. This means the data is available; however, SharePoint does not have an in-built feature to filter and present it the way you want. It's also challenging to recommend the audit since it requires extensive data management after you retrieve the data.

We understand that this limitation can be frustrating, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. We value your understanding, and I agree that this would be a great addition to the features in SharePoint.

Microsoft values user feedback. We encourage you to share your thoughts and suggestions through our feedback community under SharePoint · Community. The product development team monitors this site around the clock and your feedback will be considered. This is the best way to let the team know your needs and help improve our products and services. We hope to see this feature in the future version of SharePoint.

Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. We appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

Ralph Chawatama | Microsoft Community Moderator

    Hello Ralph,

Thank you for your response. It is a sharepoint issue because the data is retreived from sharepoint (site usage data), it means if there is not enough details on sharepoint there is nothing that can be done on Power BI.

    Naila

    Dear Naila B,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community.

This forum is mainly focus on Microsoft 365 and Office in-built features.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to perform that level of filtering using the built-in features of SharePoint. However, I believe you can integrate and use Power BI to filter out specific users or roles, giving you the ability to exclude yourself and other noise from the data. Since your question is related to the utilization of Power BI, I sincerely recommend posting your concern to the specific channel: Power BI forums. Members and engineers over there are proficient in the knowledge of Power BI issues. We are sure that our experts from that team can address your query effectively and accurately.

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation! Hope you have a nice day!

    Sincerely,

    Ralph | Microsoft Community Moderator
