Microsoft Office Desktop Apps on Mac Request Multiple Sign Ins

I am using One-Note on my computer (Mac) and trying to open my saved notes that I can see on the One Note website online.

Every time I try to sign in, my recently saved notes pop up for just a second before it disappears and I am signed out. It keeps doing this over and over again to the point where I can't even receive codes to my email anymore. I tried deleting the One Note app from my desktop and reinstalling it from the App Store and it keeps doing the same thing. I tried my other Office apps (Excel, Word) and the same thing happened. It signs me in for one second then removes me.

Please let me know what is going on and how to fix it.

    Hi, Azan Virji

Welcome to the Microsoft Support Community.

Understand that you are experiencing repeated login issues with OneNote on your Mac, as well as other Office applications.

The problem you are experiencing may be due to a variety of reasons including, but not limited to, software version, network connectivity issues, Office license issues, or problems with the Office credentials stored in the Mac's Keychain.

Here are some possible solutions you can try:

    Clear the Office cache:

    • Quit all Office applications completely.
    • Open Finder, press Command + Shift + G, type ~/Library and click Go.
    • Open Containers folder and delete the com.microsoft.Word folder.
    • Restart your computer and try logging in again.

    Check keychain access:

    • Open the Keychain Access app (you can search for “keychain” in Spotlight).
    • Select the “Login” keychain entry in the upper left corner, and from the “File” menu, select “Lock keychain ‘Login’”. “.
    • Restart the Office application and try to log in.

    Safe Mode Startup:

    • Start or restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key until you see the login window.
    • Once in Safe Mode, run the Office apps and try to log in to see the problem.

If the problem persists after you try these steps, please let me know the following information.

    1. Your current Office version information. License type?
    2. Is the web login working while the client is having problems?
    3. Is your current network environment a home network or a corporate network, try switching network environments to check the problem.

I look forward to your reply.

    Best regards,
