Hi,

I've recently bought a new laptop that comes with free 1 year subscription of Microsoft 365. However I am already a current user of Microsoft 365 Personal. How do I redeem the free 1 year subscription?

I have read some replies that it will automatically extend my subscription period but so far I have not seen any extension.

Thanks.

    Dear Wai Kit Yap,

Hello! Welcome to the Microsoft Community. I'm glad to be able to assist you. If I misunderstand your question, please let me know promptly.

I understand that you got a free one-year Microsoft365 subscription when you bought your new computer. But you want to add it to your personal account. I understand the confusion this question brings to you, and I will try to explain it to you.

    1. If you want to add this free subscription to your account, you may need to contact the manufacturer of the laptop to inquire in what form the one-year Microsoft365 free subscription is issued. If it is issued to you in the form of a product key, then you can use this product key directly in your account, and you will get the subscription for the number of days corresponding to this product key.

How to renew your Microsoft 365 subscription - Microsoft Support

    1. If this free Microsoft 365 subscription is issued with a bound device, please log in with your Microsoft account to activate Microsoft 365. Normally, after logging in, if a Microsoft account is detected, the product will be added to your Microsoft account.

    Activate Office - Microsoft Support

You can then go to the following page, log in to your Microsoft account, and check your current subscription information in "Services and Subscriptions". Check whether this free time is added to your account or it exists as a separate subscription。

    https://account.microsoft.com/

If the above methods do not solve your problem. You may need to contact our online support staff for help to see if they can merge your two subscriptions together. Because subscription-related issues involve your personal privacy information, it is not suitable to be posted in the community. In order to protect the security of your personal information, please do not post any private content. We have a team that can handle these issues. Here are their contact information:

    Contact Microsoft Support.

    1. Visit this website: https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact
    2. Type in your problems in the search box there. For instance, subscription/Tax invoices/refund, etc.
    3. Now click Get help, and Select Contact Support below.
    4. Go to the Products and services tab, and choose either Microsoft 365 and Office category or Other Products
    5. On the Category tab, choose Manage My Subscription or other alternatives.
    6. Go to Confirm.
    7. You can now choose the option of Chat with a support agent on your web browser.

**Please Note:**The Chat support team only works at certain times, so if the last window says you are not available, try to open it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. That way, they can call you and help you.

I hope the above information is helpful. If you have any progress or questions, please let me know.

    Best Wishes

Hi, sorry you cannot add the free 1-year subscription to your Microsoft 365 Personal subscription. You can only add a Product Key unless you purchase a further subscription from Microsoft Store. This is what you are referring to: What happens if I add another Microsoft 365 for home subscription to my account? - Microsoft Support
