I recently subscribed to Office 365 Family (Annual subscription). Is there a way to upgrade to a light business option that would enable me to record Teams meetings?

    Hello, Cilla Doig

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I realize that you have a Microsoft 365 Family subscription and want to upgrade to Microsoft 365 Business Basic subscription because you want to record meetings in Teams. Feel free to correct me if my understanding is wrong.

I would like to inform you that you can't directly use your personal account which is related to your Microsoft 365 Family subscription to purchase Microsoft 365 Business Basic.

You must use a work or school account to purchase it.

For more information, see Switch to a Microsoft 365 for business subscription - Microsoft Support.

If you click "Buy Now" on this website and log in to your personal account, you will be asked to create a new business account.

I sincerely recommend that you purchase your subscription through your newly created business account.

Then, if you no longer need your original Microsoft 365 Family subscription, you can cancel it by going to the “Services & Subscriptions” page: Microsoft account | Services & subscriptions

    Note:

    • Before canceling, please transfer your data from your old personal account to your new business account using the method described in the support article to avoid data loss.
    • Microsoft 365 Business Basic subscription does not include the desktop version of Office(Word/Excel/PowerPoint). If you need the desktop version of Office, please do not cancel your original subscription. Or, consider purchasing a Microsoft 365 Business Standard subscription.

I hope my answer will help you. Feel free to post back if you need further assistance.

    Best wishes,
