Hi All,

Does Sharepoint have a feature that enables user to set their folders to a password protected folder? I believe we can encrypt files such as Excel, Word but I'm not sure in regards to folders in Sharepoint.

Kindly advise, thank you.

    Dear Amirah,

    Have you found an answer?

If you just want to set a password on a folder, you can just set the sharing link as Anyone type and then set the password and copy and send the link to anyone who wants to open the folder. You can click on ...>Share to add the password.

Please note that the feature is only available for the Anyone type sharing link.

If something is misunderstood, welcome to share any updates at your convenience.

Thanks for your effort and time.

    Sincerely

    Hi Mr. Trust_A,

An end user wanted a password protected folder instead of limiting user access, but thank you for the response.

    Hello Amirah,

I'm not sure about password protection for folders, but I do know that SharePoint has a permission feature. You can select "Manage Access" and set permissions so only specified user(s) have access. Be sure to stop inheriting permissions from the parent library to apply custom settings.

I will look into the possibility of setting password protection.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
