macOS - OneNote cannot access OneDrive

Hello Community :-)

I use macOS Sonoma and Office 365. OneNote cannot access OneDrive, so the existing notebooks cannot be opened and new notebooks cannot be created on OneDrive. The web version of OneView works perfectly.

I have already tried the following:

Uninstalled and reinstalled OneNote

Signed out of OneDrive Microsoft account and signed in again

Set up the same Microsoft account on a Windows client and OneNote works there.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

regards

Alexander

    Hello Zenobia,

    danke für deine Antwort.

Hier sind die Antworten auf deine Fragen:

    1. You said that the web version of OneView works perfectly. Did you check that OneNote online can display your notes normally?

Yes, the online version works perfectly, all notebooks can be opened.

    1. You said you reinstalled the OneNote program. How did you install it? Apple Store or other ways?

To completely uninstall OneNote, I used CleanMyMac X.

    1. You said that the existing notes cannot be opened. Did you see an error message when you opened the OneNote program? Or was there only a blank page?

Yes, there is an error message:

    1. What is your OneNote program version? You can click About Microsoft OneNote to view the displayed internal version? 16.89 or other?

Unfortunately, the other tips did not help. Do you have any other suggestions on how to solve the problem?

    regards

    Alexander

    Dear Alexander Majewski,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We understand that you cannot access OneNote notes normally on Mac.

We received the information you shared with us. We saw that you said that you could not create a new notebook in OneDrive, but your OneNote can work normally when you log in to the same account in Windows.

If your OneNote can be displayed in Windows system, you don’t have to worry that your notes are still normal. We are worried that this is because your OneNote program is unstable during synchronization and cannot view the notes in the program.

To further help you confirm the cause of the problem, please share more information with us:

    1. You said that the web version of OneView works perfectly. Did you check that OneNote online can display your notes normally?
    2. You said you reinstalled the OneNote program. How did you install it? Apple Store or other ways?
    3. You said that the existing notes cannot be opened. Did you see an error message when you opened the OneNote program? Or was there only a blank page?
    4. What is your OneNote program version? You can click About Microsoft OneNote to view the displayed internal version? 16.89 or other?

If possible, you can share more information or screenshots with us so that we can help you further confirm.

We are worried that your OneNote program is not properly connected to OneDrive and server information, resulting in the inability to sync notes directly in the OneNote program on Mac.

You can refer to the information in the following link to help you confirm the synchronization information:

Fix issues when you can't sync OneNote - Microsoft Support

At the same time, you can try the following operations:

    1. Check OneNote Online and open directly:

You can log in to OneNote Web to check whether your notes are displayed on the Web. You can first open your note information through the Web and click "File"-Information-Open in Desktop Application to try to see if you can open your note information directly in the program.

    1. Make sure the OneNote program is installed correctly:

Usually we recommend that you install the Office program directly through the Microsoft website, which will include the OneNote program, which will better detect the account and license information to help synchronize.

If you install the program through the Apple Store, we also recommend that you try to reinstall the program to confirm. You can download the special program and re-login and synchronize through the information in the following link:

Please understand that our initial response may not always resolve your issue immediately. However, we will also respond based on your subsequent help and more detailed information so that we can find a solution together.
