Files with .Xlk file extension doesnot open in sharepoint online and they only have an option to download.

Question

I have few files migrated to sharepoint from a shared drive and the file extension is .Xlk. When we open this files in sharepoint we only see a download option. It will never open in the browser. Please advise on how to open these files.

This is by design since xlk file extension is not supported in SharePoint preview:
