    Dear Sophie Lyle,

    Good day to you!

I hope you are doing well. Thanks for reaching out to our Microsoft Community Forum. We will be happy to help you.

We are sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with your Word file. We understand the inconvenience this has caused and sincerely apologize.

Based on your description, instead of clicking the option “repair now”, could you please tryrepair an Office application and check if the issue persists.

Also, you can uninstall Office 365 completely by using Download Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant as uninstalling Office through Control Panel > Programs & Features would keep some preferences for next installation.
    Then re-install Office.

If above doesn't work from your side, then I think this issue might be raised by your local environment (Settings, Registry).

In this situation, I would suggest you follow the methods below and see if they could help in your scenario:

    1. Perform aClean Boot under your Windows, and check if issue persist.
    2. Maybe the local settings had affected the application. Thus, we would like you to check whether the issue is related to your user profile. In this situation, we suggest you Create a new user account under your Windows (for test purpose). See if it still alerts you with the same error message. It is worth trying because it will help you narrow down whether the issue is caused by a specific corrupted user profile.

We appreciate your understanding as we work together to narrow down and resolve the issue. To assist further, please provide the following information:

    • Is this a problem with all Word documents? Or some specific documents?
    • Screenshot of your Office version: To check version: Open any Office e.g., Word>File>Account>Product Information (Please mask your private message for protecting your private message)
    • Confirm whether other applications also get the same problem? Such as PowerPoint or Excel and etc.
    • Does this issue happen to newly created files?

I look forward to your response for further assistance.

    Best Regards,

    Sultan
