I am trying to have an excel spreadsheet show up in my OneNote. However, it is a shared excel spreadsheet available on SharePoint. I do not want the excel as a personal file on my computer. How can I navigate this?

    Dear AnonBS,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We're happy to assist you.

Based on your description, it sounds like you want to embed an Excel file from a SharePoint site in OneNote without saving it to your computer.

Here’s how you can achieve this:

    1. Open OneNote notebook in OneNote desktop app: Navigate to the section where you want to embed the Excel file.
    2. Insert Existing Excel Spreadsheet: Click on the "Insert" tab, then select "Spreadsheet," and choose "Existing Excel Spreadsheet."
    3. Paste the SharePoint URL: Copy and paste the URL of the SharePoint site. Navigate to the document library, then select the file.

Please note that this will create a static snapshot of the Excel file at that moment. Any changes made to the original file on SharePoint won't be reflected in OneNote, and vice versa.

We hope this helps! If you need further assistance or if our understanding doesn’t fully align with your needs, please feel free to post back.

    Hi Rhonda,

Thank you for your help. I followed your steps, but there's no option of attaching an Excel Spreadsheet. I can add a link to the spreadsheet, but I am looking for a static image of the spreadsheet.

    Hi Rhona,

Thank you for your patience and helping me.

Can you explain how you were able to paste the SharePoint URL as a file path? When I do the same, it shows up as "File not found".
