    Dear Dick_Y

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We understand that the data type in your Excel is incorrectly displayed.

According to your description, "Data Type" and "Stock" are not displayed in your Excel ribbon. We need to confirm with you:

What is your Excel version? Microsoft 365 or other?

The stock and data type functions can only be used in Microsoft 365 Personal or Family versions. Please make sure that the version activated in your Excel is Microsoft 365.

If you are sure you are using the correct version, you can try to add the corresponding ribbon information in "Customize Ribbon" to help confirm:

Open Excel and click the File tab-Options-Customize Ribbon.

Or, right-click a blank area in the ribbon and select Customize Ribbon from the context menu.

Under Choose a command, select Main Tabs. Click the Plus (+) icon next to Data Labels. Add the data type to the ribbon.

Click OK to close the Excel Options window. Navigate to the Data tab and verify that the data type is present.

You can try to see if this helps you further confirm whether the function is displayed correctly.

    Dear Dick_Y

We received your reply and we saw that you said that the correct "Data Type" option cannot be displayed in your "Customize Ribbon" for confirmation.

Your screenshot shows that it should be on the right side of the "Customize Ribbon". We are worried that you may have made a mistake in your operation.

You need to select "main tabs" on the left side of the "Customize Ribbon" and then find the "Data Types" option. Click "Add" in the middle

After adding, the "Data Types" options and information will be correctly displayed on your right. The newly added one will be displayed at the end. You can click the arrow next to it to adjust the position.

After adding, you do not need to do anything else. You can directly check whether "Stock" or other Data Types are displayed in "Data" of Excel.

You can try to confirm whether the information can be displayed correctly in the ribbon.

    Best Regards,

    Dear Dick_Y

We received your reply. You said that when you clicked "Add", it was grayed out and you could not click successfully.

    Need to confirm with you:

Is your Office version the correct Microsoft 365 version?

Usually, you need to successfully click "Data Type" on the left before the correct "Add" button can be activated and displayed, otherwise it will be grayed out.

Can you confirm whether you have successfully selected the "Data Type" option on the left?

You can also try to check your Office program information for confirmation:

    Open Office in safe mode:

Press Windows + R, enter: excel /safe and then press Enter to open the safe mode of the Excel program for confirmation.

    Cancel add-ins

Click File in the upper left corner of the document - Options - Add-ins - Manage and change it to COM add-ins, then select "Go", uncheck all add-ins, click OK, restart the document, and see the effect.

We also look forward to you sharing with us all screenshots of the pages you cannot click, so that we can further confirm your problem.
