    I have reported this issue to the Word product team and received the following response:

    Thanks for reporting this. I’ve created a tracking bug and am investigating.

    Would you be able to assist and ask the users to submit in-app feedback for us to take a closer look (How do I give feedback on Microsoft 365? - Microsoft Support)? If they can share identifiers for the feedback to assist me with finding it such as what email they used to submit it, or clearly describe the issue in the description, we can look at the included telemetry.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.   

    I realize that you have encountered a problem with saving Word documents. I understand how you feel.

    I know that you need help, but in order to more accurately address your question and avoid misunderstanding, we may ask you for more information. 

    1. I noticed that you posted in the Windows section.

    Does this issue occur when you are using the Office desktop application on your Windows computer?
    If you are using another device (such as a Mac), please do not hesitate to let me know.

    1. Your Office version.  

    For Windows: Open a Word file **** > select File in the upper-left corner -> select Account. Attach a screenshot of this full page

    1. You mentioned that "the issue occurred after an update".

    Are you referring to an update of the Office application, or an update to the Windows system?

    4.  Do other programs in the Office suite, such as Excel/PowerPoint/etc., also have the same problem? 

    1. Do you receive any error messages when you try to save the Word document? If so, please attach a screenshot of the issue.
