Error creating a RG in a Management Group

Hi, when I try and create a Resource Group in a Management Group I get the following error "An error occured when trying to fetch resources. Additional details from the underlying API that might be helpful: Please provide below info when asking for support: timestamp = 2021-09-03T08:02:12.3754720Z, correlationId = 98f907df-b659-4713-8096-49fb66fca2a5. (Code: BadRequest) Query is invalid. Please refer to the documentation for the Azure Resource Graph service and fix the error before retrying. (Code: InvalidQuery) ParserFailure (Code: ParserFailure)". I have no idea why this is happening. I can create Resource Groups in the 'normal' way, but when I try to create them within the MG it fails.. Any help would be great.

How are you creating a RG in a Management Group?
Through Azure portal, Azure PowerShell, Azure CLI or Azure Resource Graph?

Please share more details about your scenario requirement for creating a RG in Management Group.

Hi, sorry, I should of included that - ive only tried via the Portal at this time, and that is the error.

anonymous user - Could you please try Azure PowerShell or CLI? Just want to isolate whether it is a portal issue or an issue in general.

Is there a guide to this? I cant seem to find anything on RG creation IN a MNG Group with Powershell? Also, there doesnt seem to be a way to move a RG to a MNG Group either? Maybe my eyes are too tired now and im not seeing the obvious..

No, as the GUI is easy.. Select the MNG and then from there select RG and 'add'.

anonymous user - You cannot create any resources in a management group. Azure management groups provide a way for an organization to control and manage access, compliance, and policies for their subscription within their tenant. Whenever you try to create a resource in management group it always ask to select the subscription in which you want to create it.

Issue: Error message experienced while creating a Resource Group from within a Management Group, and the Resource Group not being listing under the Management Group itself after it is created.

We collaborated with our internal team to fix the error message.

We mentioned that by design, a Resource Group is listed under a Subscription, which is further contained by a Management Group (i.e., a Subscription is required to be in the Management Group of interest).

You confirmed the error message fix.
