shared onedrive doesn't work

I shared one of my OneDrive folders with a friend and sent him the link with edit permissions.

While he can successfully access the folder via a web browser, he is unable to open it in Windows Explorer.

Attached is a screenshot of the error message. How can I resolve this issue?

Additionally, both of our PCs are running Windows 11 with the latest updates installed.

Your provided workaround works for me—thank you!

Once the final bug fix is released to fully resolve this problem completely, please let me know.

For now, I can continue using this workaround, though I understand it may have some performance limitations due to the direct connection.

    Hi mark qian

We currently do not know the date of the fix.

We can't fix the problem directly, we are collecting and submitting cases from our users and synchronising with you the latest progress updated on the official website. We do not have advanced access.

We recommend that you try loading the shared folder as a network drive. Please note: This option does not work for all users and is only intended as a possibility to try.

Please resolve the issue of being unable to access shared files on - Microsoft Community

If you try this option, please feel free to share it with me.Any information related to this issue is very important to us.

    Best Regards,

Thank you for your response. Could you please let me know when this incident will be fully resolved?

Additionally, should my friend and I install patches on our Windows 11 devices?

Will the bug-fix patch be applied solely on the cloud side, requiring no action on our end?

    Dear mark qian

    ,

    Hello!

Thank you for taking the time to report the issue with the shared folder not syncing directly to your local device. We fully understand how this situation may be disrupting your workflow and collaboration.

Currently, Microsoft has confirmed this as a known issue, and our engineering team is actively working on a resolution. Due to the need for multi-platform stability validation, a complete solution will require some additional time. Please rest assured that this issue remains in the high-priority queue, and we will keep you updated through our official website and service notifications.

In the meantime, you can use the following workarounds to access the contents of the shared folder:

    1. Access the shared folder directly through the OneDrive web interface.
    2. Manually download the required files to your local device.

We understand that these temporary measures may not fully meet your needs, but your feedback is crucial in driving our continuous improvement efforts. Thank you once again for your understanding and patience.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
