PowerPoint save location!

Although I have been using PowerPoint for a number of years, I get a little confused (age thing). Am I right in thinking if I save to "My Pc or Computer" that it where it will go (No OneDrive etc). If I save to OneDrive will it be available on my computer as well (which is what I want). I have "Sync" turned on in OneDrive for all my files, photos and videos etc. I think I have it set up correctly but thought I would ask! I want to save to both at once PC and OneDrive.

Seems a bit late in asking this question after years of use!

Regards Brian

Hi Steve, thanks for all that info and well explained. It is more or less what I thought but you have put my mind at rest thank you. Going off the subject slightly, I still get the odd contact who can't open the "OneDrive" link when I send on email. Most people I send too especially on Windows 10/11 just click link and open. There are some who get a message "download to web browser". At this stage some opt out of downloading so don't get my presentation. Many years ago only people with "Office" or a free viewer could open them. Much better now with OneDrive "Links" larger presentations etc. most of the time!

    Thanks Steve again

    Brian

If you save to your computer and choose a folder that's not synched to OneDrive, the file will be in that folder and that folder only.

If you save to a folder that's synched to OneDrive, it will be on that folder AND will be on OneDrive and available to any other computer that has access to your OneDrive. And ... careful here ... will be deleted from the synched folder on your computer if you delete the file on OneDrive. (Though it should be recoverable if you catch it reasonably quickly.)

If you save to OneDrive and the OneDrive location isn't synched to anyplace on your computer, the file will live only on OneDrive.
