How do I restore File Explorer functionality to a shared OneDrive folder that is now only available as a browser shortcut in OneDrive?

Recently, a shared OneDrive folder ceased to be available in File Explorer. It's now only available as a browser shortcut vs an actual local folder. The folder in question is not listed as an option when I go to OneDrive->Account->Settings->Choose Folder and there is no option to "Add shorcut to My files" in the online version of OneDrive. Does this functionality now require a OneDrive Business account and if so, how do I upgrade from a home account?
