Footnotes spacing

Hello,

I did a copy-paste operation and it added some space between the line that separates the footnotes from the rest of the text and the list of footnotes and I don't know how to take it out. I pressed the undo button, but it did not come back to the initial form. The problem is that the space is about a row's height and it affected the page layout of my manuscript.

I attached a screenshot to help you better understand the question.

P.S.: This problem is not given by the spacing of the footnotes, as any space before the paragraph is eliminated.

I am looking forward to any suggestions. Thank you!

The first step is to try and figure out what is causing the additional spacing. Click the ¶ icon on the Home tab to reveal nonprinting characters. Take a new screen shot and upload it so that we can have a closer look.

The footnote separator may have acquired an extra paragraph mark, ¶, or maybe formatting such as Line Spacing or Spacing Before/After has been applied to the separator.

To investigate the separator in detail, you need to switch to Draft view and open the separator in a separate pane. See the screen shot below. Post back if you need further assistance.

Try selecting the footnote, and pressing Ctrl+Q on your keyboard.
