Hello, I bought a laptop with Windows 11 and an existing Office 365 subscription. The subscription was first installed on a Windows 10 computer. I have now tried to install Office 365 on the Windows 11 computer, but the installation does not work and I get the error message: Error 0!format error: invalid format specification field!. What could be the reason for this? Thank you for your support!

    Hello.Hans Peuker

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community.

I would be honoured to help check your question.

I can only offer some basic methods now that can help you with further troubleshooting.

    1. Uninstall the old Office software: If your computer has old Office software, you need to uninstall it before installing the new one. I will send you an uninstallation package via private message. Click on the avatar in the top right corner to access the private message. Note: The newly installed Microsoft 365 requires a subscription and account binding to use. The pre-installed Office is a free activation provided by the computer manufacturer.
    2. Your download package is corrupted: I provide an offline installation package for you to try:  https://officecdn.microsoft.com/sg/492350f6-3a01-4f97-b9c0-c7c6ddf67d60/media/en-us/O365HomePremRetail.img
    3. Modify the registry: Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter. Navigate to the following paths and delete the related items:
       HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office
       HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office

Note: Please back up the registry before making changes (right-click the "Office" folder and select "Export").

Disclaimer: Generally, modifying registry subkeys or work group is intended for advanced users, administrators, and IT Professionals. It can help fix some problems, however, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For further protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

If you get any feedback on the above methods, please let me know by posting a comment so that I can better help you solve the problem.

    Best regards.
