Microsoft Project session stuck in Task Manager

Hi,

I have issue with Microsoft Project. When I open the first file, MS Project launch normally. However, if I close the first file, and try to open the second file, MS Project will not launch at all (no error message). When I check in Task Manager, there will be 2 MS Project in the list (I guess 1 for the first file that I already closed, and another 1 is the 2nd file that is not opening). I need to end task for both session before I can open another file.

If I keep the first file open, I can open the other files without any issue. I believe closing the MS Project make it stuck in Task Manager and not allowing another MS Project session to run.

Please advise.

I have run into this previously. I have discovered that when you close Microsoft Project, you need to wait a few seconds for the app to close in the background. You might want to refer to Ralph's previous advice as well. However, if neither of these solve your problem, I would recommend you leave Microsoft Project open before you attempt to open another project, since you indicated that it works if MSP is already open. Hope this helps.

We appreciate your understanding that sometimes the initial response may not resolve the problem immediately. However, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation. So, for further troubleshooting, could you please provide the information below:

    1. Could you please let me know if you have the latest updates installed for Microsoft Project?
    2. May I know if you've tried repairing your Office installation? You can do this by going to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, selecting Microsoft Office, and choosing Change. Have you tried the Quick Repair or Online Repair options?
    3. May I know if you've tried running Microsoft Project in Safe Mode by pressing Ctrl while clicking on the Microsoft Project icon?
    4. Could you please let me know if you've tried clearing the cache? You can find the cache location in File > Options > Save.

Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. We appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.
