How to sync with excel from forms

Good Morning,

Before the update, we could have the desktop Excel spreadsheet sync with forms, which was updated automatically every time we opened the Excel spreadsheet. Now, the spreadsheet is not updated unless we go to forms and open the spreadsheet (web version), which then updates the desktop Excel.

There is also an error on the desktop Excel "CAN'T SYNC WITH FORMS Please restart Excel or try again later"

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Danielle

    Dear Danielle Fluid ,

I hope this message finds you well.

Yes, I am experiencing the exact same behavior as you. Recently, there has been a change to the solution for updating Microsoft Forms responses in Excel. According to a Microsoft official article, this is a known limitation at this time. You can refer to the details from the article here ---- >>> Microsoft Forms Blog - Update to the New Solution for Syncing Forms Responses to Excel.

We understand this may be inconvenient and sincerely apologize for any disruption caused. As a workaround, we recommend posting your feedback on the official Microsoft User Feedback website to help drive improvements and potentially bring back the previous functionality.

Click here to provide feedback --- >> Ideas · Community

In the meantime, you may want to explore other alternatives, such as using Power Automate to sync Form responses with Excel or creating an automated export through Flow, which could replicate a similar experience to the previous process.

You can learn more about the Power Automate workaround by following the steps in this article: Setting Up an Automated Workflow Between Microsoft Forms and Excel Through Power Automate - Microsoft Support

Thank you for your time and patience, we hope you have a great day!

    Kind regards,

Thank you so much for your reply.

I will be leaving feedback, as it is inconvenient the way it is currently set up.

    Thanks again

    Danielle.
