OneNote not syncing shared notebook, please help, thank you!

Greetings all!

Recently, I've been having trouble syncing my notebook between my laptop and my desktop. When I view sync status, my laptop provides the error "OneNote can't sync your notes right now. We'll keep trying. (Error code: 0xE0000057 bhhdz)". Has anyone encountered this recently? How did you resolve it?

So far, I've tried clearing my credentials, reinstalling Microsoft 365 / OneNote, and closing and reopening the notebook in question.

Thanks again!

    Dear A.M.Wolf

Thanks for raising your concerns in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are having issues with OneNote not syncing, which is really annoying.

Let's first confirm that the OneNote web client can sync properly.

You can create a new notebook in the OneNote client, add some text content at will, and then go to OneNote.com to see if the new notebook can be successfully synced to the cloud.

Since you have already performed some basic operations, we can try to delete the OneNote cache:

    • Close all notebooks from the desktop OneNote application, log out of all user accounts and close the OneNote application.
    • Then open File Explorer, access C:\users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote\16.0\cache, and delete all contents. Image
    • Restart OneNote and log in to your account to check the synchronization status.

If it still doesn't work, we will need to check the computer system and third-party applications.

I hope this is helpful to you and don't hesitate to ask any questions. Your understanding and patience will be greatly appreciated.

    Best Regards,
