Can't change Content Type in SharePoint List

Hi

In our department, we've been using a SharePoint List to manage work requests effectively. We utilize content types to organize items as 'New' and 'In Progress'. This system has been functioning well for several years. However, today we encountered an issue where it suddenly stopped working. We are unable to initiate new work orders because the content types for new items now have limited fields available for input. Additionally, the content type is a dropdown field that allows us to select the desired content type. However, when we make a selection, the content type does not save, and the old content type remains unchanged. This issue is not isolated to just one list; other lists using content types are experiencing the same problem. Could anyone provide insights or assistance on resolving this issue? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Dear Digi Bob,

    Thank you for reaching out.

According to our investigation, we have noticed that multiple users have reported the same behavior in our community. We have checked the SharePoint server and have not found any reported issues at this time. We believe this may be an unreported issue, and we suggest you raise a support ticket with our support engineers for further investigation.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and any disruption this may have caused.

To create a support ticket, you need to have admin privileges. If you are the Microsoft 365 admin of your organization, you can sign in to Microsoft 365 admin center with your Microsoft 365 admin account, and select Support > Help and support, enter your question and select Contact support. Otherwise, please refer to How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?

Thank you for your time and patience, we hope you have a great day!

    Kind regards,

    Gary,

It looks like the issue has been resolved. Just tested it, and the Content Type is being updated again after a change.
