Create sharable encrypted link

Hi,

I was wondering if there is an option to create a sharable link without a password or specific user access, but which is encrypted so it's not possible for people who receive the link to access other root folders/files?

Our team used to work with Box where this was a default option and worked like a charm for out workflow but we can't seem to achieve this in Sharepoint/OneDrive.

Thanks in advance!

    Dear BenjaminTL,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

We are sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with creating sharable encrypted link. I deeply understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.

By default, if you use the "People in Contoso" or "Only people with existing access" options to generate a link for users to access the file, they will be required to sign in. If you grant access to a specific file or folder, users will only have access to that particular file or folder, unless the parent file or folder has been previously shared with them. Please note that users will be able to view the root folder but will not be able to access or see other items in the root folder; it will appear as an empty path.

We appreciate your understanding that sometimes the initial response may not resolve the problem immediately. However, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation. Could you please show me how the shareable encrypted link works in Box so that I have an idea of your requirements? You can upload a screenshot using this feature to make things clearer.

Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. We appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

Ralph Chawatama | Microsoft Community Moderator
