As a Global Adminstrator, how do I reassign overship of a Plan in Planner, created by an ex-employee?

In Microsoft Planner there are a number of Plans owned by a staff member who has left and her account and email etc have been deleted. I am the Global Adminstrator for the account, but I cannot work out how to change the ownership of the Plans that the ex-employee created. I have spent many hours trying to find out how to do this. I am not very technically capable, but I'm willing and able to follow instructions, but absolutely nothing online seems to help. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me bonkers. What is the point of being the Global Adminstrator (and pay all the bills!) but not be able to simply and easily reassign owernship and take command of information on my account!!

    Dear Andrew,

Good day!! Wish you a happy new year~

I understand your concern and to my knowledge, I would like to convey that when a Plan is created and shared/assigned the tasks with the other users in the organization, a Microsoft 365 group will be connected with the Plan.

To change the ownership of the Plan in the Microsoft Planner, we can change the owner on the group connected with the Plan in Microsoft Planner and mostly the name of the Plan will be name of the Microsoft 365 group.

So, I request you follow the below steps to change the owner of the group connected with the Plan in the Microsoft Planner via below steps:

Step 1: Open any browser such as Google Chrome> Access https://portal.office.com > Enter your Global admin account details> Click on the 9 dots at the top left> Click on the Admin tile.

Step 2: Click on Teams & groups> Click on Active teams & groups> Scroll to the Microsoft 365 group associated with the Plan name and click on name of the group> Membership tab> Owners tab> +Add owners> Enter the owner email address> Add> Now go to Members tab and add the same user as member as well.

Step 3: Go back to the owner tab and remove the left user from the organization.

Now, the new owner when opens the Microsoft Planner, the Plan will be shown in the My Plans section.

If there is any misunderstanding from our end, we apologize and request you to share the more detailed information with some screenshots which will help us to better understand and guide you further.

Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a great day!!

    Best Regards,

    Sophia
