Dear Kroll_E
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
We understand that you have encountered an error when using the UNIQUE function on Mac.
According to your description, this problem occurred after you tried to update the Excel program to the latest version. We tested it in versions 16.94 and 16.95 and both can correctly pass the perception display prompt and run the formula correctly.
You said that the Name error was displayed after manual input. We are worried that this problem may be caused by problems in detecting formulas and information after the update, which leads to the inability to use this function correctly.
This function itself can be used in Microsoft 365.
Although you indicated that you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, for further confirmation, we also recommend that you try to view the license details displayed through "Excel--About Microsoft Excel". You can also share screenshots with us for review.
At the same time, in order to check whether your Excel program and Office program are running correctly, you can help us try the following operations:
Eliminate interference from third-party add-ons:
Home> Add-ins> Other Add-ins>MY ADD-INS>Remove all add-ins
Reset Office Applications
Delete Office cache and configuration files:
Open Finder and navigate to:
~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office
Delete all contents in this folder.
Restart the Excel application.
We also recommend that you try to log out of the account currently logged in to the Office program, and then run the license removal tool to help re-detect the correct license and re-login to the account to see if the function information can be displayed correctly.
Before running, make sure that all office programs have been completely closed and exited, otherwise the operation may be invalid.
You can refer to the information in the following link to download and run the license removal tool:

You can try to operate and confirm first. If it still doesn't work, we may need to roll back the version or perform other operations through the program's running files and configuration information to further confirm.
Please understand that our initial response may not always solve your problem immediately. However, we will also find a solution together based on the help and more detailed information you provide later.
Best Regards,
