We have Edge servers that are in the DMZ
Do we need to have an internet connection in order to do the CU upgrade?

You need the network connection when you download it from the PSGallery.
PowerShellGet module from PSGallery on another machine (machine A) from the internet and install it on the machine (machine B) we want to update without giving it (machine B) internet access?

What is your relationship between the machine A and machine B？
Are these two machines in the same Skype for Business Server?
Based on my research, the later install process by running the command do not need the internet access after you install the latest CU in your enviornment.
Machine A could be any computer that has an internet connection
Machine B is the Skype for Busines" machine that has no internet connection
Also, do we need an internet connection to install the CU?

If the machine A and machine B is in the same environment(I mean these machines are two front end servers in front end pool), machine B do not use the internet connection to install CU again.
