Microsoft 365 subscription functionality on Android

Question

I have a Microsoft 365 home subscription. It enables me to update Word and Excel files on my Samsung S24 Ultra android phone.

However, after opening a file, I receive the message "This account does not allow editing on your device. For an account with full access, contact your organization about your subscription plan". At the same time I am given the option to 'sign in' or 'dismiss' the message.

So, since I have a subscription, I attempt to login. I type in my email address, and press next. I then get the message "We couldn't find a work or school account with that email address". I have paid for a subscription, what is going on that editing is confined to school or work accounts?????

NAS does not mean anything to me. Sorry.

Generally, the mobile apps are quite picky about storage locations, preferring if not insisting on, to store on OneDrive.

You install the individual required components from the Play Store and associated them with the O365 MS Account

To be clear, I have those apps installed and I can edit files if they are first downloaded to the phone. I want to edit files from my NAS and have the updates saved there.
