Paste link in excel is grey

Question

I am trying to link Microsoft project data to excel (copy and pasting). However, under paste special in excel document the paste link is greyed out. I have tried the solutions mentioned in this community, but nothing seems to works. I am working on windows laptop.

I have done testing here and I can currently use this function normally:

I understand that you can see this feature, so I suggest you try the safe mode mentioned in this document first to see if you can't use this feature in safe mode as well : Paste Special option is missing or not working in Microsoft Office - Microsoft 365 Apps | Microsoft Learn

If you have tried the above suggestions and this feature is still gray, in order to further help you fix this issue, I need to gather the following information so that I can investigate further for you:

• The screenshots of version information of Excel you are using (File - Account - version information)
• Does this happen in a particular workbook or in a particular Project?

I noticed that the version you used was consistent with the version I tested, but I did not encounter the situation you described.

So I would like to ask you to try the following suggestions to help me further narrow down this phenomenon:

• Are you unable to copy specific Project data? If multiple projects are unable to select a particular paste format, I also want to make sure that this phenomenon also occurs in a particular workbook, you can create a new workbook to do a simple test. This can help me check whether this phenomenon is related to a specific file.
• Performing a clean boot in Windows determine whether a background program is interfering with your Office application.
