Exce Multiple Stack Columns

Is it possible in Excel to create multiple stacks side by side?

For example I have Column A and Column B for year 2023 Jan-Dec - These two are to be stacked - This is easy.

Then I have Column C and D for year 2024, Jan To Dec - I want that too to be stacked and kept beside the First stack

It practically is a mix of Clustured column PLUS stacked column, a small example is given...

This is to compare annual trends of Two related factors in a single view - let us say Expense and Profit/ Saving (the combined stack automatically becomes Revenue/ Income).

    Hi SB1962,

    Thanks for visiting Microsoft Community.

After my testing, it seems there is no direct way to combine a clustered column chart with a stacked column chart.

If a secondary axis is set for the data of Series 1 and Series 3 in a clustered column chart, a similar effect can be achieved. However, there is no way to directly plot Series 2 on top of the data of Series 1 (Excel will require it to be plotted either on the primary horizontal axis or on the secondary horizontal axis).

If you want to achieve the same graphical effect as a stacked column chart, you need to process the data so that the data of Series 2 is first added to the corresponding data of Series 1 on its own basis, and then plotting can achieve the effect.

I hope this information can help you confirm the situation.

Well I don't think it will solve My problem anyway thanks... since my Number of columns will be dynamic, it will not stop at 2 years, now it will be say, 2023, 2024, and even 2025 has started the data is easily extracted from another database easily, either through filter function or index/match , with some other complexities (calculations) ... not in context here. What I was in fact looking for a dynamic (Number of columns not limited to 2, it will be at least last five years) something like this attachment...

But, I assume I have to leave it... since Excel may not have this type of feature yet... though the developers can think of it, since it gives a pictorial pattern on two angles... e.g. Across Months and across years. The basic idea is ... Am I at peak on a particular parameter every (say) June? How is the other parameter on these - is it behaving similarly every year when the first is at peak or trough? is there some sort of Phase shift ? Of course, I can do a rigorous Stat Analysis - but a pictorial would have given a hint.

(The above I did by copying the charts as Picture and overlapping the images (with manually shifted of course)

    Anyway, thanks for the help.

    Hi SB1962

I'm sorry I couldn't help you. You can submit this suggestion to the developers in Excel's Help-Feedback section. Hopefully, they will include this new chart type in future updates.

    Wishing you a pleasant day.

Use a Pivotchart, group the dates by month and Year. Month into columns section, Year into rows section. Or both into one section and use the month as first priority.

IMHO that should work. If you need further help please share your sample file.
