Just a guess based on no usable information — The Option+▼ combination opens a list of textual data which exists in the column. It does nothing if the column contains Values:

Data can be selected from the list for a new entry or to replace an existing entry.

If that doesn't provide the information you need please provide a reasonable explanation of what that need is.

    Hi Awad,

Thanks for posting in the community. We are happy to help you.

Could you please provide more details about the situation? Do you mean the shortcut doesn't work in Excel for Mac? Also, please provide your Excel version and product type. You can run Excel, click Excel in the top menu> About Excel, and check the version information and product/subscription type. Please provide more details so that we can better understand the situation.

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.😊

    Sincerely,

    George | Microsoft Community Moderator
