Hello omergreen22,   Welcome to the Microsoft Community. I understand that you're experiencing search issues with OneNote on your new computer, and it looks like the content inside the notes is not being searched properly.

Considering that your device is brand new, then it may take some time for the app to index those files if you copied those notes from your old device. Therefore, the search function should gradually come back when you use it for a while.

And it also depends on the version of OneNote you're using, if it's OneNote for Windows 10, it's notes are completely online based, so you may need to check the sync status.

To better confirm your issue, I'd like to confirm the version of OneNote you're using, is it from Microsoft 365, or an Office suite such as Office 2024?

First, you can try to make a repair to the Office component:

After that consider rebuilding the Windows search index:

Open Control Panel → Indexing Options → Advanced → Troubleshooting → Rebuild Index.

Restart the computer after the rebuild is complete and wait for the index to finish (it may take a few hours).

In Indexing Options make sure that the OneNote notebook storage path (e.g. OneDrive or Local Documents) is included in the index location.

Further troubleshooting of this issue will require confirmation of additional information, so please be patient and we will do our best to assist! Best RegardsEliac.S - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
