We are experiencing the same issue attempting to edit managed metadata columns in Edit in grid view. All other column types work ok. Clicking or double clicking into a managed metadata column cell does not bring up the term set. Cannot enter data into cell either. The only editing we seem to be able to in grid view is drag and paste existing data from one cell to another. This issue seems to only been recently identified. Thanks

    Dear Sir,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. I am happy to help you.

Based on your description, I understand that you are trying to Edit in grid view but see the cells are read only.

May I know if my understanding is right? If so, I have tested on my end and everything is working fine. Please try to follow some steps and see the result.

**Check Your Permissions:**Even though you’re an Owner, you may not have the correct list permissions or they could be overridden. Please Go to Settings (gear icon) → Site permissions → Advanced permissions settings and check if you have Full Control or at least Edit permissions.

Check for Content Approval or Versioning: If your list has content approval or requirement for check-out enabled, you may be blocked from editing cells. Go to List Settings → Versioning settings > Ensure Require content approval is turned off. If versioning is required, make sure the items are checked out before editing.

Ensure Grid View is Enabled: Go to the SharePoint list or library > Click the Settings gear → List settings > Under Advanced settings, verify that: "Allow items in this list to be edited using Quick Edit" is set to Yes. If it’s disabled, enable it and save.

**Check List Column Settings:**If certain columns are marked as read-only, they can’t be edited in Grid View. Go to List Settings → Columns. Check if any columns are: Calculated → These are always read-only. Metadata columns → Often read-only by default. Lookup fields → May be read-only depending on the source list.

If the scenario above is not consistent with yours, you can also post back and point that out. At the same time, to better understand your situation, could you also provide the information below?

    • Could you please share the screenshot of error you are facing?
    • Could you please specify if you are trying to edit any specific type of list or anything else?

I appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

If you still have further issues, feel free to post in this community again. I am always here to help you.

    Best Regards,

Similar issue here. The cell DOES NOT say "The cell is Read-Only", and it appears as though the Managed metadata cell would be editable, but upon double clicking it, the term picker icon doesnt show up how it normally would. Also, I cannot type anything in the cell how I normally would be able to for adding terms and seeing term suggestions based off what I've begun typing. Not a permission issue. I have full control of the sites/libraries where I've tried this, and am even a Site Collection Admin on one of them. Up until a few months ago, Editing in grid view always worked fine for me. I can still enter data into cells in grid for other types of columns, just not Managed Metadata columns. Another colleague in my org tried and they are able to do so without any issue. I tried both using Edge and Chrome to no avail.

Any further suggestions/guidance aside from what was suggested already above would be appreciated.
