Pivot table not behaving

I am attempting to produce a pivot table from a data set to which I have just added an additional year's data.

  1. Within the data set (Excel table) there is a column headed Pay_Methods which comprise Cash_Chq, $Chq, BACS, Card, Genfair, PC and SO. Historically Cash-Chq has sometimes been entered as Cash/Chq but although I have gone through all of the entries in the column and have ensured that Cash/Chq no longer exists in the data set, when I produce a pivot table, a column headed Cash/Chq still appears with data in the most recent year (as per screenshot below). The value in the Cash/Chq column should supplement that in the adjacent Cash_chq column.
  2. A (blank) column has appeared in the pivot table whereas there are no blank cells in the Pay_Methods column in the dataset.
  3. Before creating a pivot table, I added data for the year 2025 to date to the data set, but 2025 does not appear in the pivot table.

I would appreciate advice that might resolve my issue(s).

Thanks, Hans, for your prompt response and apologies for my late reply. It appears that too many gaps in my data may have been the problem, as cleaning it seems to have resoled the issue.

    Thanks again.

Could you create a stripped-down copy of the workbook demonstrating the problem (without sensitive information) and make it available through one of the websites that let you upload and share a file, such as OneDrive, Google Drive, FileDropper or DropBox. Then post a link to the uploaded and shared file here.
