dears,

i have a legacy onprem pbx and im thinking of migrating it to microsoft teams. however, calling plans are not available in my region

1) if i use direct routing, can i get rid of my onprem pbx system? or it will be needed as direct routing will be a kind of a hybrid deployment?

2) can i transfer my numbers from my legacy pbx and use them in teams? or this feature is just available for calling plan

thank you in advance

    @eg1995 ,

    1) if i use direct routing, can i get rid of my onprem pbx system? or it will be needed as direct routing will be a kind of a hybrid deployment?

    No, you cannot. Direct Routing is used to connect your SBC to your PSTN trunks, such as a third-party private branch exchange (PBX), analog devices, and Microsoft Phone System. In your scenario, PBX is your PSTN equipment. So, you cannot get rid of it when configuring Direct Routing.

    2) can i transfer my numbers from my legacy pbx and use them in teams? or this feature is just available for calling plan

    This feature is indeed available for Calling Plan. If you want to transfer your phone number to Microsoft Teams, it means that Microsoft will act as PSTN carrier. You can learn more from the following image which captured from Configuration considerations part in this document.
