A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
Hi Patsy Tucker,
Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.
When you encounter the issue 'Can't complete the save due to a file permission error,' it is usually due to improper or corrupted permission settings for the file or application. Could you confirm your current macOS version for me? Recently, it seems some users have reported issues with disk read/write permissions for Microsoft 365 and some applications after upgrading to Sequoia: Find out which macOS your Mac is using - Apple Support

Preliminarily, it appears the new system version might be causing the problem. If your system is currently on Sequoia, it might lead to the issue. First, please check the following settings:
- Select the Apple menu > System Settings then click on Privacy & Security in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
- Click on “Files & Folders” on the right side.
- For each app listed, turn on or off the ability to access specific location files and folders.
- Right-click the file - Show Info - Ensure the currently logged-in account has 'Read & Write' permissions. If not, click and modify.
Additionally, uninstalling and reinstalling Office is often a good start, but make sure to thoroughly remove old installation files and related settings. Here are some steps to follow for a complete removal and reinstallation:
- Thoroughly uninstall Office:
- Just dragging the application to the Trash might not be sufficient to completely uninstall it. Office installs many files and settings in different locations across the system. Try using the dedicated removal tool provided by Microsoft to ensure you manually delete all Office-related files, including those in the Library folder. Before proceeding, ensure your authorization is tied to your Microsoft account. Refer to the following two articles for manual uninstallation and the removal tool:

- Reinstall Office:
- Download the latest version of the Office installer package from the official website and install it. Ensure your operating system version is compatible with the latest Office. Log in to Services & subscriptions | Microsoft Account and download Office suite. As shown in the image:
