I've been using the free version of Clipchamp for about two months. It's been working pretty well until about today. I imported a video that was supposed to be vertical/upright but when I added it to the timeline, it showed up as stretched horizontal. I tried to re-record the video and even put in past videos, but nothing had worked to fix it. I'm wondering if it's a problem with the app or my own laptop.

This issue is not user error. The application will not format any visual media in any ratio except 16:9 and has been like this for at least 18 hours.

Thanks for your response. None of the aspect ratio suggestions fix the the problem. Clipchamp is distorting/stretching the clips widthwise and the stretch remains regardless of the size or aspect ratio. The problem has to be with Clipchamp.

I'm having this problem all of a sudden too. Never had it before, but all my images and videos are stretched. No ratio setting change that.
this is a new error in the software, and as I see many users have it.
its not about any of the solutions you proposed.
I'm am also encountering the same problem after using the application. It appears that something has changed in the software that needs to be fixed.
