Intune device install status 0x80070642

When trying to install Microsoft 365 Apps using Intune, I get a failed error:
"The user cancelled the app installation. (0x80070642)", but the user did not cancel. These machines already have a manual installation of Office 365, so maybe Intune is just showing the wrong message (should say already installed by other party?). I had selected the option to install the latest, so thought it may have 'updated/upgraded' to latest version.
How can I diagnose these errors more?

Regards
Phil

    Hi,

For our issue, please firstly ensure the following conditions are met:

    • -Devices to which you deploy these apps must be running the Windows 10 Creators Update or later.
    • -Intune supports adding Office apps from the Microsoft 365 Apps suite only.
    • -If any Office apps are open when Intune installs the app suite, the installation might fail. In Task Manager, is there any office application running in the background? If yes, please end these task. Sync policy and see if it is working.
    • -This installation method is not supported on Windows Home, Windows Team, Windows Holographic, or Windows Holographic for Business devices.
    • -Multiple required or available app assignments are not additive.
    • -Multiple Office 365 deployments are not currently supported. Please make sure only one M365 suite is deployed to the device.
    • -Remove MSI from end-user devices - Choose whether you want to remove pre-existing Office .MSI apps from end-user devices. The installation won't succeed if there are pre-existing .MSI apps on end-user devices. The apps to be uninstalled are not limited to the apps selected for installation in Configure App Suite, as it will remove all Office (MSI) apps from the end user device. For more information, see Remove existing MSI versions of Office when upgrading toMicrosoft 365 Apps. When Intune reinstalls Office on your end user's machines, end users will automatically get the same language packs that they had with previous .MSI Office installations.

In addition, to troubleshoot our issue, here is an article for the reference:

However, if the issue still persists, to clarify our issue, please collect the following information to us?

    1. What is the current version of our O365?
    2. Which channel did we choose in Intune M365 deployment?
    3. Are the "Microsoft Office" and "Microsoft Office 15" folder created? Under the Microsoft Office 15 directory, are the Office Click-to-Run installation launcher files stored?
    4. If we remove the previous O365 application on the affected machine, will the installation completely successfully?

    Hope it can help.

    Best regards.
    Crystal
