I purchased Office 360. The installation indicates complete. However, when a file is opened. I am asked to reactivate my subscription. My subscription is BASIC. The software was a one time purchase of $149. I cannot work files either online Nor Offline. I am open to exchanging the software cost and retuning to the $99/yr

Which specific subscription product do you have?
You mention "basic." If you mean Microsoft 365 Basic, note that it does not let you install Office locally on a PC (or Mac). It is online and mobile access, only.
