Cursor location not aligning with cell selection in latest Excel for Windows PC

The Cursor is placed 3 cells below where it is placed, e.g. the cursor is placed in the yellow cell but is placed in the blue cell. Why? And how do I fix it.

Note: this is a large spreadsheet, i.e., it is out to column OY.

    Good morning,

Welcome to Microsoft Community, we are here to help

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, I understand that you need assistance with your Excel and if your cursor isn't aligning properly with cell selection in Excel, here are a few possible fixes:

    1. Check Zoom Settings – Sometimes, an unusual zoom level can cause misalignment. Try resetting it by going to View > Zoom and selecting a standard percentage.
    2. Disable Hardware Graphics Acceleration – Go to File > Options > Advanced, scroll to the Display section, and check Disable hardware graphics acceleration.
    3. Turn Off Extend Selection – If the Extend Selection feature is enabled, it may cause unexpected behavior. Press F8 or Esc to disable it.
    4. Open Excel in Safe Mode – Close Excel, then hold Ctrl while opening it. If the issue disappears, an add-in might be causing the problem.
    5. Disable Add-ins – Go to File > Options > Add-ins, select COM Add-ins, click Go, and uncheck all add-ins.
    6. Check for Updates – Ensure you're running the latest version of Excel by going to File > Account > Update Options.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards

    JK
